Urge PETCO to Ditch Rabbit Fur Toys!

PETCO has been under fire for years for animal neglect and mistreatment, overcharging customers, and purchasing animals from massive, abusive mills. In 2008, after pressure from PETA, the House Rabbit Society, and other animal protection groups, PETCO announced that it would phase out the sale of rabbits in its stores and work with adoption groups to place homeless rabbits as part of the company's "commitment to saving more animal lives." But despite knowing about the horrific suffering that goes into every fur-trimmed toy, the company refuses to stop carrying toys made from the fur of dead rabbits.

Animals on fur farms spend their entire lives confined to cramped, filthy wire cages that are so small the animals can barely take more than a few steps in any direction. Wire cages cut into rabbits' delicate foot pads, and the animals are denied the opportunity to engage in natural behavior such as running and burrowing. Fur farmers use the cheapest killing methods available, including neck-breaking, suffocation, poisoning, and genital electrocution. Crude killing methods aren't always effective, and sometimes animals "wake up" while they are being skinned.
The best way to help animals who are abused for their fur is never to buy fur or support companies that sell real fur.
Please use the form below to urge PETCO's CEO to dump fur for good. Let him know that you will not shop at PETCO until all real fur is off the shelves.
